HOLLYWOOD, May 10, 2004 – Celebrating the life of Tupac Shakur, one of the most influential and top-selling rap artists of all time, TUPAC: RESURRECTION arrives on DVD and VHS and on June 15 from Paramount Home Entertainment. This powerful, critically acclaimed film is an intimate, personal look at Tupac Shakur’s life, told viscerally and dramatically through his own words and music, as well as through vivid images of the world as he experienced it.

TUPAC: RESURRECTION takes viewers with him through the hard-knock journey of his childhood, the ups and downs of his professional career, romances, life-altering mistakes and finally, through the lessons he has learned from them. TUPAC: RESURRECTION explores honestly and openly Shakur’s many complexities and examines the artist’s gifts, passions and conflicts while unraveling the mystique of his life by looking at those who influenced him early on.

TUPAC: RESURRECTION is the only film made in collaboration with Shakur’s mother, former Black Panther Afeni Shakur, who has recorded an audio commentary with director Lauren Lazin and surprise guests for the Special Collector’s Edition DVD.

This loaded DVD also contains many revealing special features:
· “Remembering Tupac” (Jada Pinkett Smith, Snoop Dogg and many others)
· Four deleted scenes
· Two Interviews with Tupac (one is never-before-seen)
· “Malcolm X Dinner Speech” (never-before-seen)
· “Deposition” (never-before-seen)
· “About the RESURRECTION Soundtrack” (includes Eminem, 50 Cent & many other artists)
· Music Videos (“Trapped” and “Brenda’s Got a Baby”)
· Theatrical Trailer and TV Spot
· Easter Eggs and more!

TUPAC: RESURRECTION is also the only film told entirely in his own words. This inspirational life story features never-before-seen concert footage, private home movies and excerpts from Tupac’s poetry and journals, all of which serve to create a very personal portrayal of a sensitive, passionate and often provocative artist who died before his time. In addition, the film itself provides a virtual soundtrack of Shakur’s best-selling music, as well as new music by Eminem, Biggie Smalls and 50 Cent. Shakur himself currently ranks as the best selling rap artist of all time, with more than 33.5 million records sold to date.

The TUPAC: RESURRECTION Special Collector’s Edition DVD is presented in widescreen format enhanced for 16:9 televisions and in full screen format. Both versions feature Dolby Digital English 5.1 and English Dolby Surround. The DVD is sub-titled in English and closed-captioned for the hearing-impaired.
