50 Cent Can Keep Lawyer Judge Says

As we reported yesterday, 50 Cent's ex, Shaniqua Tompkins, recently tried to 50's lawyer Bret Kimmel kicked off the case since she says he gave her advice and so it would be a conflict of interest. Now a judge ruled yesterday that 50 Cent does not have to get a new lawyer in the middle of this case. The judge says that his lawyer started representing 50 a long time ago and he claimed he didn't have any conversation with Tompkins that would create any conflict. “I would not pick up the phone and speak to someone I don't know who has not retained me and give them legal advice about a case,” Kimmel told state Supreme Court Justice Carol Edmead.

The other issue that was brought up was the insurance money that 50 Cent would be getting for the house that burned down which Tompkins lived in, and said 50 burned down himself. The judge ruled that 50 cannot sell the property and to put any insurance money into a trust account, pending the outcome of the $50 million dollar lawsuit that Tompkins filed against him. Next up the two are in court on August 19th.
