Akon Charged With Throwing Fan Off Stage

Posted By on November 30, 2007

R&B singer Akon may be living up to his "Konvict" status. The Senegalese sensation has been charged with a misdemeanor for tossing a teenage fan off the stage at a concert this spring.

As we previously reported, Akon hurled a teenager off the stage at a concert in Fishkill, N.Y. this June for throwing an object at him; the teenager hit concertgoer Abby Rosa, who suffered a concussion and later asked for an apology.

Now, according to the Associated Press, Akon faces criminal charges in the case. The singer is scheduled to be arraigned this Monday (December 3) on misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree harassment.

Akon's lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, had released a statement shortly after the incident claiming that the tossing had no basis for criminal charges.

Incidentally, this isn't the first time Akon has had a run-in with a teenager at a concert. In April, the crooner took serious heat and lost a sponsorship deal with Verizon for simulating sex onstage with a 15-year-old at a concert in Trinidad.
