Philly Rapper Beanie Siegel escaped theft charges yesterday (Oct. 18) in connection with the a rental car that was kept well past its due date..
At a preliminary hearing, prosecutors withdrew charges including theft and receiving stolen property against the rapper, according to the Associated Press.
As previously reported, Beans (born Dwight Grant) rented a 2007 Nissan Altima from Payless Car Rental in Philadelphia in July, but skipped the Aug. 13 due date without bothering to call the company. The car was reported stolen on Sep. 6 and was finally returned by a Siegel associate on Oct. 5. By that time though, Beans had racked up $5,000 in fees and detectives had gone to his house, where Beans reportedly hadn't been in months, to arrest him.
The rapper has since come to an agreement with Payless and the charges have been dropped.
According to Siegel's attorney, Fortunato N. Perri Jr., all outstanding fees have been paid.
