Truth of the matter is, James Dewitt Yancey is one of the most influential producers in this hip-hop generation.

Not to say that I am a ghostbuster, but I do believe in being guided by spirits who have expertise in whatever field you are trying to excel in. Dilla virtually mastered the vintage sound. Prayer, meditation and belief in God allowed me to have a STRICTLY PARANORMAL relationship with Dilla, to master the album. Because of how deep the feeling was, how real the experience was, and his influence on my music, the right thing for me to do was to repay him.

An executive producer gets a percentage of the album's sales. When the album goes to stores (late summer/early fall), proceeds will go to Maureen "Ma Dukes" Yancey and the J. Dilla estate. Basically, whatever money she gets from the album, it will go to whatever she wants to do with it. Whether it's lupus research, paying residual medical bills or supporting his daughter, I want to help, as a token of appreciation for how he's helped me.

I read some jokes on Twitter like "I'ma say Berry Gordy produced my album now". Go ahead. If his spirit guided you through the album making process, by all means. It only makes sense. If I closed my eyes and played the piano and it felt like Stevie possessed me while playing, I'm listing his name in the credits. Because not only is he getting credit for his inspiration, he would be getting paid.

I believe the album is "Jay Stay Paid", not "Jay Stay Gettin Niggas To Download and Rap Over His Shit While His Mom Suffers".

So June 16th is Judgement Day. All the hooplah, all the punches, all the hate, will be face-to-face with the product. You do NOT have to download it. We are in talks with several mainstream websites to host a link to the album.

Sega, Interscope and I are very excited about this history-making release. Again. This is the first major-label mainstream release to be a free download. Yeah that's right. I said Sega. I'm not playing anymore. On some "at all" sh1t.
