Chamillionaire On DJ Drama

Posted By on January 29, 2007

Chamillionaire has publicily announced that he is not the e-mail source distributing information about a possible "set-up" of the RIAA raid and arrest of DJ Drama and DJ Cannon by music distributor BCD Music Group.

Last week, in the gossip blog "Ya Heard" published by SOHH.com, a source revealed they believed that music distributor BCD Music Group was behind the raid as payback for a lawsuit that DJ Drama had apparently won against the company. Though the information published was strictly gossip, it was taken out of context and allegedly forwarded by email to hundreds of music industry insiders as fact from the tmail address of someone claiming to be or affiliated with Chamillionaire. But Chamillionaire responds that he had no role in disseminating the rumor and has no ill will toward BCD.

"I have not signed any contract or given authorization to BCD to distribute any Chamillionaire mixtape. However, just because I don't do business with them does not mean that I blame them for anything that happened with DJ Drama and Don Cannon," Chamillionaire said in a statement. "I am working on my sophomore debut and have absolutely no time to be focusing on anyone's business but mine. I wish DJ Drama and Don Cannon the best. I have full confidence that they will be able to handle this situation and can continue to promote and market artists as well as they have been able to do so in the past. These rumors are false and have no merit, truth, or facts to support them."

Currently, Chamillionaire is in the studio working on his spring 2007 release, Ultimate Victory. The Texas rapper was recently nominated for two Grammy Awards for "Ridin'" off his critically-acclaimed national debut album, The Sound of Revenge, and will attend the show which airs live on Feb. 11th. Last month, Cham released Mixtape Messiah 2, which is available as a free download on his website, Chamillionaire.com.
