Chris Brown is going to have to wait in jail a lot longer than he thought before he finds out what his fate will be in the highly publicized assault case after showing up in court Wednesday. Reports claim Brown’s bodyguard is the reason for the delay that could push the trial back 6 months from now.
According to reports, Chris could be sitting in jail until next fall before his trial even begins.
“A Los Angeles County judge denied singer Chris Brown’s request for release from custody Wednesday after his trial on an assault charge in D.C. was delayed for months, News4 Washington’s Mark Segraves reported. Brown’s trial was delayed after his bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, decided not to testify out of fear of self-incrimination as he appeals his own conviction. News4 Washington’s Richard Jordan says no specific date has been set for Brown’s trial, but it could begin roughly six months from now.” (NBC Washington)
Brown is reportedly going back to Los Angeles until his trial begins.
Brown is being escorted back to Los Angeles by U.S. Air Marshals on another weeklong “Con Air” flight after his attorney, Mark Geragos, successfully argued that he should return to L.A. while his trial is delayed, saying his client is “in limbo.” “This may be the single most investigated misdemeanor,” Geragos said. “I think it’s a little over the top… It’s nothing more than a bloody nose.” If Brown is convicted of the misdemeanor charges, he is facing a maximum sentence of 180 days in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
