Having produced Lil Wayne's 2008 "La La" track from "Tha Carter III," David Banner knows what it's like to work with Lil Wayne and in the new issue of Rolling Stone, Banner talks about the chemistry between himself and Weezy. David Banner says he submitted a track for Wayne's upcoming "Carter IV" album and at the time of this interivew, it was being considered for the album.
“Hopefully we got the next single."
“It’s definitely for the club, it’s beating. It’s a bit different than the approach most producers have taken to club music, because I think a lot of producers try to stay safe and do what everyone else is doing. I don’t think Wayne accepted that at all.” (Rolling Stone)
David Banner says that he usually keeps a select few beats aside, just for Lil Wayne, untill Weezy decides on the final track list. After hearing most of the new material on Lil Wayne's new album, David Banner says no two beats sound alike.
“I always compare Wayne to Kobe Bryant, because of the fierceness he has for the recording process and his love for the music,” Banner explained. “He always wants to take music to the next level, from learning to play the guitar to venturing out into rock. Lyrically, he’s a beast, and he’s allowed himself to grow.” (Rolling Stone)
