Def Jam will reportedly name Chris Hicks to take over as the spot left vacant by Shakie Stewarts death. The former Atlantic Records Vice President of Urban A&R will take the Shakir Stewart's spot after Stewart was found dead by an apparent suicide three months ago. Stewart replaced Jay-Z back in June and was responsible for signing Young Jeezy and Rick Ross.
Chris Hicks has been in the music industry for over a decade, largely recognized for founding Noontime publishing company. Noontime Publishing signed a joint venture deal with warner/Chappell back in 2000 and Hicks has worked with such artists as Lil’Wayne, T.I., Mary J. Blige, Timbaland and Jazze Pha.
