It has been more than 3 years since the Diplomats (Dipset) announced their reunion album. As you can imagine all kinds of rumors are spurred from unfounded speculation, but when an announcement like that is made and then no one hears anything for three years and there are no explanations, it is easy to begin speculating. Well, finally there is new information on the status of the Dipset reunion album: Diplomatic Immunity 3. Dipset member, Juelz Santana sit down with Fundmaster Flex of New York’s Hot 97 to enlighten the Hip Hop world as to the reasons for the delay.
During the interview, Juelz actually took responsibility for the delay saying that he was not in a good place musically and that he wasn’t doing much musically at all during that time.
“I’m not going to even lie – when we put out the ‘Salute’ record, it was still at the time where I wasn’t doing a lot of music, period,” he said. “I wasn’t back in the zone that I needed to be in, musically…it’s not even about [the Diplomats] project; I had the same way like [when] I took a break from everything…I wasn’t really in my mojo to just sit down and just complete a Dipset project. In order to get it right, we’ve got to make it all the way right. That’s why I’m saying it is possible, because I know Cam is willing to do, I’m sure Jim is willing to do it. I’ve always been willing to do it; it was just about me getting my music mojo back.”
As you can see, although Santana speaks confidently about the other members being willing to bring this reunion album to fruition, he stops short of giving an absolute as to the certainty of it happening. This could easily lead to more speculation. Well, this is for certain, the only thing fans can do, is go back to the process of waiting. It would seem, based on the aforementioned quote, that no real work has been done as of yet, so you would have to believe that there will not be an album release over the next few months and maybe not this year period. Only time will tell.
