Koch issues statement about Jim Jones leaving

Posted By on October 12, 2007

Yesterday (October 10), Koch Records released a statement regarding Jim
Jones’ new deal with Rick Rubin and Columbia Records. As previously
reported by Hot 97’s Miss Info, the Dipset Capo signed a multi-million
dollar deal with Columbia for his upcoming album and future releases on
his Byrdgang Records imprint. Miss Info also reported that Jimmy’s
former label, Koch Records, was “broken off nicely” in the deal. Now,
however, Koch has released a press release stating Jim’s new deal with
Columbia is actually a partnership “of sorts” with Koch and the indie
label will “still be involved in marketing and radio promotion for
Jones, and participate in revenue streams, while Columbia will oversee
all aspects of his campaigns.” Koch Records President, Bob Frank, went
on to say, “Jim Jones is a superstar and this arrangement positions him
in such a way as to maximize the strengths of the No. 1 independent
Koch Records and the most storied and historic label in the history of
the record business, Columbia Records.”
