After going back and forth with Patti LaBelle for a couple of weeks about when and where the collaboration would take place, DMX and the legendary singer finally hooked up in New York on Monday at Sony Studios. The two recorded “Thank You” for X’s Grand Champ LP, set for a September 16th release. The track was produced by Ron and Nemo for Looney Productions and samples Alicia Myers’ 1982 spiritual dance hit, “I Want to Thank You.”
According to his manager, DMX will appear on NBC’s “Third Watch” this fall, playing a rapper who very vocally expresses his hate for bootleggers at one of his concerts. In the episode, a fan of DMX‘s character actually kills a bootlegger in the street and X is arrested for inciting the murder. DMX films that episode August 25th and 26th in New York.
