As we reported yesterday, Eminem's former production company, F.B.T. Productions, is suing Universal Music Group for unpaid royalties from digital distribution. Some websites reported that Eminem himself was suing the company but UMG's excutive vice president Peter LoFrumento explains that it's Eminem's former production team, not Eminem himself. “Eminem is not a party to this suit, and in fact, we enjoy a very
close, creative and productive relationship with him,” LoFrumento said.
The lawsuit, which names Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records besides Universal Music Group, seeks $1.3 million dollars in unpaid royalties for music sold to third parties like iTunes and Nextel/Sprint. “The claims made by F.B.T. Productions are completely baseless as a matter of fact and meritless as a matter of law, and we look forward to presenting our side in court,” LoFrumento said.
