Eminem On Spin: Behind The Scenes

Posted By on August 2, 2010

Eminem will cover the new issue of Sping magazine and for the story photo director Michelle Egiziano and the photographer Maciek Kobielski went to Detroit to take photos of Eminem in his hometown. "All the photos were taken in an abandoned office of a former factory called the Budd Wheel Factory," says Egiziano. "The offices were left almost entirely intact, which gave the space a really spooky vibe. File folders, coffee cups, memo slips were scattered about."

"I was worried at one point as Em exclaimed, 'I can’t see anything! Someone tell me where to go!' as we walked through an unlit corridor," she says. "All I could think was that I would be responsible for Eminem breaking his toe during our cover shoot." "Em played along with everything," says Egiziano, "and I think the pictures are unique and personal as a result." "The other half of this space had a dropped ceiling that was falling almost to the floor," says Egiziano. Luckily, no one was injured, and the shoot went off without a hitch.
