Rapper Freddie Gibbs was arrested last Thursday (June 2) in the French city of Toulose because he is being accused of rape that allegedly happened last year in Austria. His hearing for the charge was set to go down Tuesday (June 7), but it got pushed back until June 16th. Gibbs was about to perform in Toulouse, but was snagged by police under a European Arrest Warrant for the rape charge.
Gibbs’ lawyer, Michael Malka stated, “Freddie Gibbs has indicated to the court that he would not be willing to be handed over to Austrian authorities without exercising his rights to a defense.”
“He categorically denies the accusations made against him in Austria,” Freddie Gibbs’ lawyer Michael Malka added. “He is even very surprised that Austria could act on this a year later, while he was on tour in Europe.”
