Jay-Z Talks Racial Unity, Calls For Diverse Shows

Posted By on May 1, 2009

Even stranger than one of the most odd concert bills to date (Jay-Z, Kelly Clarckson and Third Eye Blind) is Jigga posting a blog. Admitting he doesn't use Twitter, Jay-Z did post a blog today about his recent show with the singer and rock band at the University of Arizona.

Saying that he was caught up in the excitement of the moment, plus there was technical issues, Jigga says he didn't get a chance to say something important. "On the show as well were Third Eye Blind and Kelly Clarkson … I thought that had to be the oddest pairing ever, but soon realized it's what I've always professed. There's NO such thing as Black music or White music only Good or Bad music."

Jigga says he thinks it's cool to like things that are outside of your comfort zone, not just with music, saying "If you're African American you can have a Jewish friend." He brought up his own friendship with former Def Jam head/ current Warner Music CEO Lyor Cohen. "The Jew fro and the BLUEprint fro [Afro] are the SAME thing." Jay-Z finished by saying he would like to see more diverse concerts happen saying "Next up, [a concert with] Taylor Swift and Uncle Murda!"
