We reported last week, Jay-Z recently bought out his contract with Def Jam Records for a rumored $5 million dollars. Now the question is where will Jigga take his new Roc Nation label? Rumors have been going around that Jay-Z will soon sign a deal with Sony after his business partner Jay Brown has been seen with Columbia/Epic Label Group Chairman Rob Stringer multiple times. Not to mention the president of Epic, Amanda Ghost, is managed by Roc Nation and Brown. There have even been reports from "inside sources" close to the deal that a partnership should be finalized soon allowing Roc Nation material to be released through Epic and Columbia.
As we previously reported, Jay-Z signed a reported $150 million dollar deal with Live Nation last year to create his Roc Nation label. Back in May it was confirmed that he signed up-and-coming rapper MC J. Cole and was in talks with former Roc-A-Fella rapper Young Chris. Roc Nation itself has already snagged a bunch of producers and songwriters, plus they manage freshman rapper Wale.
