Jay Z and Alicia Keys kick started Game 2 of the World Series in New York last night, performing their hit single "Empire State of Mind", which comes off the New York based rapper latest album "The Blueprint 3".
Yankee star player Derek Jeter expressed his love for the song, saying: "I think it's special for all of New York. I think it almost seems like it's the anthem for New York right now," the Yankee captain also added, "I got an opportunity to get to know Jay-Z throughout the years and he's very, very talented doing a lot of things. But he knows what he's doing, so I think New York has kind of embraced that song."
The fact that the MLB organization, which made the rapper-singer duo perform a clean version of the song, due to certain regulations within the organization, didn't appear to bother Jay any, as he spoke on what performing at Yankee Stadium meant to him: "As a die-hard Yankees fan, I'm honored to perform a song that celebrates the greatness of New York in one of our city's most important landmarks, Yankee Stadium."
