It seems that Juelz Santana drew the ire of Jo Jo Simmons when he mentioned him on a recent track entitled “Soft”, a track that featured Rick Ross and Meek Mill. The Dip Set rapper spits, “Far as that dough goes? I’m Russell Simmons, you Jo Jo,” Apparently, Simmons took offense to the line and decided to respond in like fashion.
Shortly thereafter, as a response, Jo Jo released a diss track entitled “Holy Water” in which he goes straight at Santana with a vengeance.
“Now how you gonna mention my uncle Russell / Then disrespect his nephew / The industry forgot you / Fucker, you nothing special,” he raps. “These niggas hate to love you / Simmons will not let you / Compare your money to my money, boy that’s disrespectful.”
He continues, “Why you have to call my name / Thought you retired / Boy, that little bit of fame you had / That shit had died / Tryna ride Ross’ dick to get a hit, you high / Sniffin’ lines in the studio, tryna come up with rhymes.”
At this point, the question has become, Did the response by Simmons settle the score and close the door, or did it ignite a beef between these rappers that are separated by generations. Will the Simmons name and their influence in the New York music arena cause him to lay low?
