On last night, Chicago native rapper/producer, Kanye West performed “I Am A God”, his highly anticipate new release, at the Met Gala in New York.
To some, Kanye West has a God complex, and that perception will not change anytime soon, especially with his latest release, “I Am A God”.
He performed the song last night at the Met Gala as a tribute to his girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, who is currently pregnant with their first child. According to reports, Vogue is planning to release the video of the performance this coming Friday, May 10, 2013.
Kardashian was also present at the event last night and according to reports was noticeably smiling during West’s performance. “I Am A God” will likely be a featured track on West’s uncoming album. The rapper is also expected to perform the new track on SNL on May 18. According to inside sources, the song reportedly gets its name from a passage of scripture in Psalm 82 that states, “You are gods.”
This song will definitely not ease the criticism of West and what is considered to be a God complex. Whether the title of the song was a calculative move on West part, in order to incite his critics, is yet to be determined. Whether it was intentional or not, inciting is definitely one thing this song is.
