Children Uniting Nations and Billboard have a weekend of events planned in celebration of the Oscars, that will also help raise funds to continue to support CUN's efforts with Los Angeles foster children.
Those honors will be given out on Sunday (February 25) when Billboard joins CUN and Lil' Kim in hosting the 8th Annual Academy Awards Viewing Dinner, a black tie event taking place at The Music Box at Fonda. In addition to a formal dinner, the evening will include dancing, musical performances and a silent and live auction. CUN will also present special awards to honored individuals who have helped improve the lives of children during the last year. Proceeds from the event will benefit CUN's cause of helping foster children succeed.
The weekend of events will close out with the CUN After Party, featuring performances from DMX, Lil' Kim andDarryl "DMC" McDaniels of Run-DMC, with Salt N Pepa DJ Spinderella serving as DJ for the evening. "American Idol" stars Ruben Studdard and Diana Degarmo will also grace the stage.
Children Uniting Nations offers the largest mentoring program for L.A. foster children, and while not affiliated with or endorsed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, their Oscar night celebration is the organization's primary media awareness and fundraising event. A number of entertainers, including Chaka Khan, Wilmer Valderrama, Tracey Edmonds, Stephen Dorff and Lil' Kim, have become heavily involved with CUN and even serve as Goodwill Ambassadors for the organization.
