Lil Wayne's lawyer, Stacey Richman, is hard at work trying to get his felony gun possession charge dropped. The New York Daily News is reporting that Weezy's lawyer was in court yesterday breaking down New York police officer Diane Hornung's testimony. The police officer says she noticed marijuana smoke coming from Wayne's tour bus after a concert on July 22nd of last year but Wayne's lawyer says “She wasn’t anywhere near where she said she was [at the time of the incident]."
Wayne's lawyer even pointed out multiple court documents that showed the police officer was in fact blocks away from the scene, as she was helping arrest Ja Rule and his entourage on gun charges. Citing the documents putting the officer in another location plus the fact that she used the fact of "smelling" marijuana as a reason to search Weezy's bus, Wayne's lawyer says the search should be thrown out.
If convicted Lil Wayne could face a mandatory sentence of three and a half years in prison. Wayne is due back in court in the next week, stay tuned.
