June 18th will be a big day for Hip Hop. Kanye West, J. Cole, and Mac Miller all drop albums. Mac Miller sat down with Fuse to discuss the release day and his hesitation on keeping it.
“I wanted to run at first. Then I was like ‘Nah, I’m not gonna run. I’m gonna hold my ground. I’mma drop this album same day,” the Pittsburgh rapper revealed.
Mac went on to say that he feels the now infamous release date is an omen:
“But I’m like this is the perfect way to do it. That this is an omen, there’s a reason that this is happening,” he explained. “I don’t know what it is, but there’s some reason. And J. Cole came up with his ‘I wanna go against Kanye.’ Maybe he didn’t know I was also dropping. He didn’t wanna mention the kid, which is cool. No hard feelings. But it’s become this really big day, which is exciting man. It’s exciting because everyone’s gonna be in the stores and they’re gonna buy records again…I don’t give a fuck about the competition. I just want people to listen to the album.”
