In an era where it seems that veteran rappers seem to find the genius in a much anticipate delay is album releases, Method Man is no exception. With 50 Cents’ “Street King Immortal” pushed back over a year from the original release date and His labels boss and cohort Dr. Dre pushing over a decade in the much anticipated and oft delayed release of “Detox”, if comes as no surprise when you think of the fact that “Crystal Meth” and album that Meth first mentioned back in 2008 is yet to see the light of day.
Well, the truth is the Method Man has not even recorded the joint yet. In an recent interview with Montreality, Method Man admitted that he has been dragging his feet in getting into the studio to records “Crystal Meth”. He says he has been moving at an extremely slow pace and he know that he needs to get up and get to it.
“I’ma start work soon. I can’t put a number on it. I’m doing it at my own pace, which is slow as shit. I need to get my ass off the couch. I been on that couch, heavy. I write a verse now and then because I don’t know if there’s any real listeners… You’ve gotta have a real listener in order to appreciate what you’re doing. I don’t want someone to say ‘I like the beat.’ I hate that shit. Or, ‘I like the hook.’ There’s so much more to it than that. I hate that and the motherfuckers who run up on me every day thinking that I’m just a pothead or some shit. There’s so many more levels to my character than just smoking fucking weed. On that note, pass the blunt son.”
Method Man also hinted at the fact that a Wu-Tang Reunion is highly likely. He could give specific, but did say that he has spoken with RZA and it is probably going to happen.
