Despite Prodigy currently promoting his new book, "My Infamous Life: The Autobiography Of Mobb Deep's Prodigy," Mobb Deep are currently at work on a new EP that they plan to release this summer. The group plans to release the project independently, as a clause in their contract allowed the group to be free from 50 Cent's G-Unit Records (after it was released from Interscope Records). Havoc insists that they are still on good terms with G-Unit.
"I feel that we've been in the business long enough to totally know what to do," he said. "The whole thing right now is to really capitalize on our talent and what we do instead of having all these major labels take, take, take. We might as well reap the rewards of our success." (MTV)
According to Havoc, the new project will be an eight to ten-song EP and is currently titled simply "Mobb Deep." Set to hit stores in August, the new album will be the first since Prodigy was released from prison in March.
"Sometimes you have to man up and do you your own thing," Havoc said. "We can do this. We've been in the game for years, so it's like, 'Let's do it. The time is now.' " (MTV)
