That's because two of music's most sizzling commodities — 50 Cent and Coldplay — have been added to the star-studded roster of performers gracing the stage at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, the channel announced Monday (August 15).

Coldplay, who are nominated for four VMAs including Video of the Year for "Speed of Sound," and Fiddy, who's nominated for two VMAs including Best Male Video for "Candy Shop" and Best Rap Video with the Game for "Hate It or Love It," will join a list of previously announced performers Shakira, Ludacris, Mariah Carey, the Killers, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson and Green Day.

Also announced Monday was the latest batch of artists handing out the coveted Moonmen. Jessica Simpson, Lil Kim, Ricky Martin, Ashlee Simpson, Bow Wow, Eva Longoria, Nelly, Hilary Duff, Joel Madden from Good Charlotte, Ciara and Alicia Keys will join previously announced appearances by Usher, Jessica Alba, Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, Lindsay Lohan, Joss Stone, Jeremy Piven and Snoop Dogg, while Diddy will take over this year's hosting duties.

More announcements regarding performers and appearances are expected in the coming days and weeks leading up to the live August 28 broadcast.
