50 Cent Security Guard Charged

Jersey City police have finally assigned a culprit in the September 2003 hotel shooting involving 50 Cent - his security guard.

William Floyd of Brooklyn has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon after allegedly firing shots outside of Jersey City's Doubletree Hotel. The Brooklyn security guard was with 50 Cent and his entourage as they pulled into the hotel's parking lot and gunfire ensued. After the shooting, they all piled into an SUV and fled the scene. SOHH.com obtained exclusive information that the nine shots fired in the Hotel parking lot were not fired with the intention to hit 50 Cent, but were warning shots fired into the air. This was verified by assistant Hudson County Prosecutor Patrick Doherty.

"I can't tell what was on his mind," Doherty told the NJ Star Ledger.

Floyd was arrested after one of the hotel employees identified him from a video surveillance camera.

"There was no indication that there was a second gunman or shooter," Doherty said. "He was the only gentlemen seen with a gun."

The 36 year old security guard will face charges of possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes when he goes before a grand jury within a month.

Meanwhile, though a subpoena has been issued in New Jersey for 50 Cent, he has not yet been questioned in the crime.
