Akon Stays On Top

Akon's "Don't Matter" begins a second week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, and also rises 10-7 on Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart. In addition, Akon shares the No. 2 slot on the Hot 100 with Gwen Stefani on "The Sweet Escape," which climbs from No. 6 in the wake of the duo's performance of the song last week on "American Idol." The song sold 140,200 digital downloads, a 67% increase, to zoom 7-1 on Hot Digital Songs.

Mims' former Hot 100 No. 1, "This Is Why I'm Hot," inches up 4-3, while fellow ex-chart-topper "Glamorous" by Fergie featuring Ludacris is down 2-4. Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" rebounds 7-5, matching its previous peak, after selling 124,200 digital downloads.

A week after making the largest jump in Hot 100 history (94-3), Beyonce and Shakira's "Beautiful Liar" drops to No. 6. Gym Class Heroes' "Cupid's Chokehold" featuring Patrick Stump falls 5-7, while Justin Timberlake's "What Goes Around ... Comes Around" is up 9-8. Daughtry's "It's Not Over" climbs 10-9, and Diddy's "Last Night" featuring Keyshia Cole" moves 12-10.

The chart's fastest growing track at radio is T-Pain's "Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin')" featuring Yung Joc, which jumps 24-14 and 14-5 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The Hot 100's top debut comes from Brad Paisley's "Ticks" at No. 40, the first single from his as-yet-untitled new album, due June 19. "Ticks" marks the highest debut by a solo country male since Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" began at No. 16 in September 2001.

Among the nine other Hot 100 debuts this week are DJ Khaled's "We Takin' Over" featuring T.I., Akon, Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Lil' Wayne and Baby at No. 75, and Rob Thomas' "Little Wonders" at No. 78.

On Hot Country Songs, Tim McGraw's "Last Dollar (Fly Away)" ascends 2-1 to give him his 22nd No. 1 on this tally, and his first since "Back When" in December 2004. As previously reported, McGraw debuted yesterday (April 4) at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 with his new Curb album, "Let It Go."

Meanwhile, Trent Reznor's Nine Inch Nails becomes only the second act to achieve four consecutive No. 1s on the Modern Rock chart, as "Survivalism," the lead single from the forthcoming "Year Zero," moves 2-1. Only Linkin Park owns a longer stretch of straight chart-toppers on this list, with five. The Arcade Fire earns its first ink on a Billboard singles chart, as "Keep the Car Running" opens at No. 36 on Modern Rock.

On the Mainstream Rock chart, Breaking Benjamin's "Breath" is No. 1 for a fourth week, while Juan Luis Guerra Y 440's "La Llave de Mi Corazon" is No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs for a third.
