Cassidy is currently gearing up for the release of his third solo album titled The Barry Adrien Reese Story (B.A.R.S.).

The Philly bred rapper, who went through trying times through the past 2 years including serving a year in jail and surviving a serious car accident, says his forthcoming album will be introspective and will reveal his faith in God.

"So many serious things happened in my life," Cassidy told Billboard. "What I'm talking about has nothing to do with me being a rapper, but with me as a person."

"When I was going through problems, from going to jail to the accident, even though I had money, I had power, respect and friends, no one showed up and the only thing that helped me was my faith," he explained. "I was so worried about what lawyer I was going to hire and what judge will handle my case, but when I read the scripture, which says it's better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man, I knew I was going to win and get through it with the Lord on my side."

His newfound respect in God inspired a song titled "Leaning On the Lord's Side" which features Angie Stone.

"[We] used to sing this song in church while I was in jail with a chorus that said 'leaning on the Lord's side,' and so when I got out, I asked Angie if she could help me bring the song to life," he revealed.

While faith does play a role in his new album, Cassidy emphasized that "it's not church music, it's just street songs."

B.A.R.S. features appearances from John Legend, Beanie Sigel, Fabolous, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Eve and Rell. Production on the set is supplied by Swizz Beatz, Neo Da Matrix, Scott Storch, Timbaland and Cool and Dre.

The album's first single, "It's On (I Got My Drink and My Two Step)," will be added to radio this week and its video is scheduled to be shot this month. [Listen Here]

Cassidy will release a mixtape hosted by DJ Green Lantern on July 7 which will include seven exclusive songs while B.A.R.S will hit shelves on September 18.
