Jim Jones, Clinton Portis & Others Educate Students At Howard University

Jim Jones, the Dipset capo, will be along side other celebrities and activists that will be speaking at Howard University's Third Annual Hip-Hop and Higher Education Symposium next Thursday (3/27). Joining Jim Jones will be Washington Redskin Clinton Portis, R&B singer Lyfe Jennings, TV personality Melyssa Ford and during the "HIV/AIDS and the Hip Hop Generation" part, Maria Davis, known HIV/AIDS activist. The CEO of the Hip Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN) and H20 Enterprises, Dr. Benjamin Chavis, will deliver the keynote address to that symposium that will educate students a out the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases, women in paticular. "The purpose of this year's symposium is to raise awareness about the staggering rates of HIV/AIDS infection in young African American males and particularly, in African-American women, who are members of the Hip-Hop generation," Joshua Kondwani Wright MA, chair of the symposium, said. "It will also impart helpful knowledge, for those living with the disease, to lead a healthy life." The event will take place from 12-5pm on March 27th at the Blackburn Center Ballroom sponsored by Howard University's Afro-American Studies Department and the University Student Health Center.
