GameStop, a national video game retailer, will play host to an exclusive game tournament for the highly anticipated release Def Jam: Icon.

The tournament will take place today (February 13) in Atlanta from 4 p.m.-5 p.m. at several of the retail stores but only the store in Union City will feature an appearance from Fat Joe, who is a featured character in the game. Kudo Tsunoda, the game's producer, will also be on hand at the store to witness the tournament first hand. The tournament will give players the opportunity to have a shot at trying their hand at the game before it's scheduled release date in March.

As previously reported by SOHH, a preview model of the game was unveiled this past October in Chicago, where the game was developed, and features the likenesses of hip- hop superstars and celebrity personalities including T.I., Big Boi, Melyssa Ford, Fat Joe and Anthony Anderson, among others.

The game is being billed as one of the most realistic hip-hop/fighting games and boasts in-game features such as the ability to sign artists, build a record label and have the game's built-in soundtrack control the fighting tempo. Players will also be able to upload their own music to the game via their iPods.
