 Though busy juggling his countless tasks, former G-Unit President Sha Money XL caught up with SOHH to discuss his scoring of the Freestyle Street Basketball online video game and his new role with the Unit.
Sha Money recently expanded his production resume by scoring Sierra Online's "Freestyle Basketball" video game. Partnering with Marc Ecko, the game allows players to face each other as well as dress their virtual players with Ecko, G-Unit, Zoo York and Avirex clothing among other brands. In addition to Sha's score, the game also features exclusive freestyles from Lloyd Banks, Hot Rod and Sha's new artist, Riz.
"From my experience doing the 50 [Cent] video game, they called me back in to come check out this new online game, 'Freestyle Basketball,'" Sha told SOHH. "They showed me the different scenes and how it's gonna look. So I knew to make some music with the moods. So I went hands-on and did the beats myself and had some musicians with me to get the live feel for the scoring. I didn't do no samples."
While online video games may not have reached PS3 and Xbox type of prominence, Sha is confident that it could in the future.
"If they get a quarter of what they was getting in Asia, this is success, if, you know, 32 million people are playing this game in Asia right now," Sha explained. "It's live in five Asian countries so, you coming over here with the kids who like to play video games with someone, this is something where they get to play with a person that's gonna be live on the other end. You can play one-on-ones, two-on-twos or three-on-threes."
The Queens, NY mogul also took the time to clarify his position within G-Unit. Early rumors claimed Sha was terminated from his post while reports later revealed that he simply had a different role. Though he doesn't have a title at G-Unit Records anymore, he's still part of the squad's fold through his Money Management Group company.
"If you look at 50's new album... me and my company Money Management Group, we did over 6 tracks on that album. I'm just basically taking a new direction and focusing more. Being the president, I gotta attend to a company everyday and only focus on that," Sha offered. "I'm more of a people person and wanted to expand my empire and get into management and kinda make [Young] Buck a bigger brand and expand Banks' career to other things outside of rap. The conflict lied where I had to attend to something every day and couldn't express what I really wanted to do outside of that venture."
"It's still a family. I still consult in G-Unit Records," he continued. "I'm working on putting together this G-Unit album that they're trying to get together right now. It's still fam. It's just that I quit my day job."
