The hit duo Gnarls Barkley plan to give their fans a special treats starting with a free performance with R&B rocker Janelle Monae in New York. The MySpace secret show will also feature the rock group Battles and take place this Sunday (6/8) at 7 p.m. at the Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza. Gnarls Barkley also has set up "The June Residency Series," a set of
intimate shows in London and Paris, for June 12-18. The shows will
feature the duo and multi-instrumentalist Josh Klinghoffer, playing rare minimalist
versions of popular Gnarls songs. "Before we get into our summer festival schedule, we wanted to get
closer to our biggest fans," said a spokesperson for Gnarls. "When
Gnarls plays live, they usually go full-tilt, with costumes and
sometimes even spaceships. These performances will expose all the
nerves and heart behind that, and reveal the essence of the songs."
Thats not the end of Gnarls Barkely's planned appearances. The wildly entertaining duo will team-up with Kanye West as they headline this year's Lollapalooza music festival in Texas from August 1-3. Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails and Rage Against the Machine as well as hip-hop artists like Kid Sister and The Cool Kids will appear at Lollapalooza.
