A New Zealand politician's call to cancel an upcoming Ice Cube concert has fallen on deaf ears as the owner of the venue where the rapper is expected to perform has announced that the event will go ahead as planned. THANK GOD. The Fans and more importantly the LOGIC has prevailed.

As we previously reported, mayoral candidate Len Brown claimed Cube's music advocates the gangster lifestyle and will be replicated by youth in his community which is already suffering from problems with gangs and violence. He also pressured the owners of the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre to cancel the concert.

According to Television New Zealand, TelstraClear CEO Richard Jeffery said Ice Cube does not have a criminal record and he doubts his music will encourage gang problems.

Jeffery also added that he is not in the business of censorship and that people concerned about gangs and drugs should concentrate on busting tinny houses, not music.

The concert is scheduled to take place in Auckland on August 22.

In related news, Ice Cube is currently gearing to release a complaiation containing sixteen of his songs featured in his films and soundtrack. The set, titled Ice Cube: In the Movies, will feature tracks from Friday, Higher Learning, Boyz N Da Hood and The Players Club, among others.

Ice Cube: In the Movies will hit stores on September 4.
