Well it's official. The successor for Jay-Z's position at Def Jam has been announced. Shakir Stewart has been given the spot as the new executive vice president of the label. Stewart graduated Morehouse in 1996 and has been with Def Jam since 2004, working his way up the ladder, previously being senior vice president of A&R.

Stewart is credited with signing Young Jeezy and Rick Ross among other artists on Def Jam. Before coming to Def Jam, he signed Beyonce when he was at Hitco Publishing, plus he even signed Ciara while he was at LaFace Records. The new job will include day to day activities of the Def Jam label, including pulling in and guiding new talent, overseeing producers and directing the label's brand recognition.
