Rap/Rockers Linkin Park, R&B Singer Rihanna Added To Live Earth Japan

Rap/rockers Linkin Park and R&B singer Rihanna have been announced as artists performing in Live Earth, a 24-hour, 7 Continent live concert that will be broadcast to over 2 billion people.

Live Earth Founder Kevin Wall announced today (May 29) that Japan will be the only country to host two official concerts, with a daylong event taking place in Tokyo and a broadcast event at the To-ji Buddhist Temple in Kyoto later in the evening.

Live Earth kicks off in Sydney, Australia on 07/07/07, with performances by Blue King Brown, Sneaky Sound System, The John Butler Trio, Jack Johnson and others.

Concerts are taking place on all 7 continents in Japan, China, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Germany, Turkey, Brazil and New York, which will host the finale concert.

Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, Akon, Alicia Keys, The Beastie Boys, The Black Eyed Peas, John Legend and other artists are participating in the various concerts througout the world.

Linkin Park's new album Minutes to Midnight is the biggest debut album of the year to date, selling over 623,000 copies its first week on the shelves.

The group also set a new record for selling the most digital copies in one week, moving 84,000 copies.

The figure eclipses the record set by Justin Timberlake by over 20,000 copies.

More acts for Live Earth are scheduled to be announced at a later date.
