Yo! MTV Raps Celebrates 20 Year Anniversary

Although MTV has slowly become known for reality television rather than playing music videos' as it's name suggests, on April 1st MTV will celebrate the 20th anniversary of it's influential hip-hop video show, "Yo! MTV Raps." The vast list of stations the network has including MTV, MTV2, MTV Tr3s, MTV Jams, MTV Hits, MTV Mobile, MTV Radio and MTV On Demand will all have old and new "Yo! MTV Raps" programs. The actual T.V. show ran from August 1988 to August 1995 and was hosted by Doctor Dre, Ed Lover and Fab 5 Freddy. Through-out April MTV's "Sucker Free" will officially become "Yo! MTV Raps" and MTV Jams will become "Yo! MTV Jams" for the month. That show will feature current hip-hop video countdowns hosted by DJ Cipha Sounds as well as memorable moments from the original show, including classic videos and clips from MTV News. It sucks that it takes something like a 20 year anniversary for MTV to show interest in Hip Hop and videos again, but hey at least they are doing it right?
