Papa Roach Going Acoustic, Just Not Yet

Tuesday, 13 February 2007 |   Written by Jason   PDF Print E-mail Post a Comment
As part of its ever-broadening sonic palette, Papa Roach hopes to release some acoustic recordings in the future. But their time has not come yet.

"I don't think our fans are quite ready for this yet," frontman Jacoby Shaddix told Billboard.com. "So we've put it on the back burner, but it's definitely something we're gonna touch on in the future."

Shaddix said the Sacramento, Calif., quartet recently recorded three of its songs -- "Scars," the new single "Forever" and "Not Coming Home" -- acoustically in Scotland, "just to test the waters and see how they sounded. They came out great. First and foremost, it was fun, and the sound quality was killer."

For now, Shaddix said Papa Roach will stay on the road to promote its latest album, "The Paramour Sessions." The group is currently headlining in North America and will stay on these shores in the spring, after taking a break in March to build its own studio back in Sacramento. It's planning a summer swing through Europe and a late-summer jaunt back in the States, too.

The group will also spend part of March filming a video for "Forever," which will have an "artistic quality to it," according to Shaddix -- including an Internet version that will allow fans to choose and pan the action from different angles. Papa Roach has also been soliciting fan videos for the song, with the grand prize-winner receiving a Mac laptop and a featured posting of their creation on the band's assorted web sites.

"We're getting some really good videos," Shaddix reported. "We also went and flyered some film school campuses across America. We thought it would be cool to get stuff from people who might not be Papa Roach fans but are interested in getting a break. It's fun to see all the ideas coming in."
