"The (white) Rapper Show" host and former 3rd Bass member MC Serch was the guest of honor at a roast held by the ego trip collective last night celebrating his 40th birthday where it was also announced the show has been renewed for a second season.
Writer and artist Sacha Jenkins of the ego trip collective, served as host for MC Serch's roast, held at Brooklyn venue Southpaw. Over the course of the evening, friends and family including former group member Prime Minister Pete Nice, rapper Dana Dane, Dante Ross (A&R for 3rd Bass, Brand Nubian, KMD, etc), Bill Adler (photographer, former Def Jam publicist), Bobbito Garcia (DJ, author, radio/tv personality) and DJ Eclipse (Non Phixion) all took turns poking fun at the rapper onstage.
"White Rapper Show" contestants Persia and Misfit were also in attendance for the bash.
MC Serch closed the evening by grabbing the mic and freestyling.
During the celebration Jenkins announced that VH1 has signed on for another season of their breakout reality series the "The (white) Rapper Show." 2.3 million viewers tuned in to watch the premiere of the show, which was helmed by MC Serch and producer Prince Paul, and featured a group of Caucasian aspiring rappers competing for a $100,000 prize. Since the show's finale several contestants have managed to remain in the spotlight, particularly rapper John Brown, who was responsible for popularizing the catchphrase "Hallelujah Hollaback."
