What is it about hip hop that has made it at home in both urban enters as well as middle America? DEATH OF A DYNASTY is a unique feature film centered upon the rise of hip hop from music subculture to mainstream lifestyle staple.

In the spirit of "This is Spinal Tap", DEATH OF A DYNASTY offers a funny and satirical look behind the closed doors of Damon Dash's and Jay-Z's hip-hop empire, Roc-a-Fella Records. It is a rare film when an industry is mocked by many of its very own -and directed by one of its leaders - Damon Dash.

Shot in New York City, the film centers around Dave Katz (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), a journalist at a hip-hop magazine who is sent on assignment to uncover the often comedic underworld of the hip-hop music world run by the Dash (producer of The Woodsman) and rap superstar Jay-Z (Fade to Black). Dave believes he is suddenly accepted into Roc-a-Fella team and privy to the daily "goings on" at one of the world's hottest record companies. Although he is actually "two timing" the magazine (feeding sordid gossip items about the feuding partners to local gossip columns), the journalist thinks he is a real "playa" only to find itís he who is getting "played."

Featuring Devon Aoki (Fast and Furious, D.E.B.S.) and an eclectic and large cast of cameos including Chloe Sevigny, Carson Daly, Jamie Lynn Sigler and Peter Saarsgard, DEATH OF A DYNASTY also brings together a veritable who's who of hip hop stars and is directed, written and produced by Dash.
