106 & Park's Freestyle Fridays winner, Jin The MC, was involved in a gang-related shooting on Monday that left his friend in critical condition with a bullet in his back. The Asian rapper, signed to Ruff Ryders Records after defeating contenders on BET, was unharmed after getting into a rift with a member of the Ghost Shadows street gang. The incident began at about 2 a.m. in the trendy new Yellow Bar at 32 Mulberry St. in Chinatown when Jin started arguing with an up-and-coming rapper, who is also a member of the Ghost Shadows Asian street gang. When Jin's friend, Christopher Louie, 23, stepped in to defend him, the gangster pulled a .40 caliber gun and shot Louie once in the lower back.

The gunman fled the scene and is being sought by authorities. Jin, whose full name is Jin Au-yeung, was unharmed. Louie is in critical condition at New York's Bellevue Hospital and is expected to survive. The beef between Jin and shooter is said to have been over the rival's jealousy of Jin's success.
