Rick Ross Beats Out Snoop Doog & Fat Joe In First Week Sales
Wednesday, 19 March 2008 Written by Jason    PDF Print E-mail
This last week there were lots of major albums dropped and everyone was curious who would turn out on top. With huge names such as Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg and even Fat Joe all releasing albums on the same day, the soundscan numbers were really anticipated. Turns out, Rick Ross came out on top selling 198,000 copies of his Trilla, while Snoop Dogg sold 137,000 copies of his Ego Tripin' and Fat Joe only able to push 46,000 of his Elephant In The Room (even though it featured guest spots from J.Holiday, Lil' Wayne, Plies & KRS-ONE). Rick Ross's Trilla, which featured production by J.R. Rotem, Mannie Fresh, The Runners, DJ Troop and J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, was released on Slip-N-Slide Records, the label famous for introducing such big names as Trick Daddy and Trina. Sparking the rebirth of the Miami Label launched in 1993, Slip-N-Slide CEO Ted Lucas says "Hard work pays off," "Slip-N-Slide Records is not only a nationally recognized record label, but now will be internationally acclaimed, especially with the arrival of Rick Ross, Trina [on] April 1st and Qwote this summer." L.A. Reid, CEO of Def Jam agreed saying "The Def Jam and Slip-N-Slide staffs, and especially Ross himself, pushed really hard to get here," Reid said. "I'm proud of the work, put more importantly, I'm proud to have Ross cemented among Hip-Hop's elite, where he belongs."

Rick Ross went on tour the Hypnotized Tour to promote Trilla earlier this month. The tour which is hosted by Jacksonville DJ Bigga Rankin and is co-headlined by Plies also features appearances Juvenile and Trina, who is about to release her fourth album Still Da Baddest.

Slip-N-Slide Records is going to have a big Summer with the release of R&B artist Qwote's Jive Records debut plus Plies' Definition of Real, which is the follow-up to his 07 Gold The Real Treatment.
