Rev Run, of the world famous Run DMC (and MTV's "Runs House") has signed a worldwide recording deal with U.K. independent Craze Productions. The new Rev Run album, set for a release this quarter, will be promoted by Rev Run with a tour and publicity campaign, including live dates with Kid Rock, who also guests on the album.
"This is a landmark deal for Craze Productions, which will put our company at the forefront of multi-faceted marketing and promotion in hip hop," said Craze CEO Sam Kleinman, in a statement, predicting the deal will "lead other major artists to sign direct with digital record companies thus bypassing the major recording companies."
Craze Productions has an huge digital catalog of hip-hop tracks and had only before been mainly a Web and mobile downloads/ringtones company (this deal moves the London-based label into the physical market).
"I am excited about this new album and venture with Craze Productions,"
said Simmons in a statement. "The reason why I signed with Craze
Productions was the totally radical manner in which they view the
current global market potential for hip-hop."
