Game Associate Arrested for Money Laundering

Monday, 20 November 2006 |   Written by Jason   PDF Print E-mail Post a Comment
One of The Game's business associates was recently charged with laundering over $100,000 for the 9 Tre Gangsters, a blood street gang who reportedly operates in the state of New Jersey.

According to NJ State Division of Criminal Justice Director Gregory Paw, 38-year-old John "Johnny Hooks" Abbey, who is a partner in Game's Black Wall Street East Recording Studio in Atlantic City, NJ, was arrested on Friday (November 17). Abbey is being charged with first-degree racketeering conspiracy and is being held on $750,000 bail, Criminal Justice spokesman Peter Aseltine revealed. He faces up to 20 years if convicted.

"The investigation has led us to various financial tools used by the gang to finance their operations and to move proceeds of their crime," Paw told The New Jersey Star Ledger. "It was a significant issue for us to learn ... how they have infiltrated legitimate businesses and used sophisticated techniques to finance their endeavors."

NJ authorities have been looking to nab the 9 Tre Gantsters for quite some time. Police believe the gang sells heroin, cocaine and guns across the state. They began probing the gang a little over a year ago when one of the supposed gang leaders was charged with killing a Newark police officer. Last July, 41 leaders believed to be affiliated with the 9 Tre gang were arrested.

Police searched the Black Wall Street East studio and Viper Construction hoping to find business records that will determine how deep Abbey is involved with the the gang, according to the authorities.

In related Game news, on the same day Abbey was taken in, the Compton rapper was arrested for allegedly impersonating an undercover police officer in New York. Once released, Chuck Taylor denounced the incident as a ploy courtesy of the hip-hop task force.

Doctor's Advocate is in stores now.
