Bun B was recently at the ASCAP "I Create Music" expo in L.A. Friday and opened up about UGK's famous collab with Jay-Z on his hit song "Big Pimpin." Bun B says at that time since UGK had established a very solid, loyal underground following, Pimp C was concerned about working with a mainstream rapper. Pimp C even talked about the Timbaland produced beat saying "This got a lotta flutes man, I don't know about them flutes, man," according to Bun B.
The crowd laughed as he talkeda bout these memories of a song that ended up the last and biggest single from Jay Z's fourth album. Bun B went on to say that he was able to convince Pimp C by saying ”This ain’t a UGK record, this is a Jay-Z record,” but did go on to say they didn't expect the song to be a hit record. ”The big record was supposed to be the one with Mariah (“Things That You Do”), but I don't think people know what that [song] sounds like,” he said. “You can't force feed the people [a hit song].
