P. Diddy yesterday settled the $3 million lawsuit filed by his former driver, who said he suffered emotional damage as a result of the infamous Club NY shooting years ago.
A settlement was reached yesterday in the State Supreme Court in Manhattan for the lawsuit filed by the limo driver, Wardell Fenderson. The exact settlement terms remain a secret and lawyers for both sides are only saying “the matter has been resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.
Wardell Fenderson testified that Sean Combs ordered him to drive away from the shooting at Club New York on December 27, 1999 and not to stop for anyone, while running through eleven red lights and ignoring police requests to stop. He halted a half-mile away from the club where the NYPD had put up a barricade. Police arrested all the occupants and found the 9mm handgun on the floor of the vehicle.
Fenderson also testified that, as a result of the incident, he became a near-hermit and a heavy drinker. His lawsuit alleged false imprisonment – stating earlier to the NY Daily News, that he “was afraid that if he stopped (the car), he was going to be hurt by somebody in the car, and if he didn’t, he was going to be hurt by the police.”
