5 Years Later R. Kelly Goes To Trial On Child Porn Charges

Well it's about F*cking time…After being originally charged in 2002 (and the video seen across the world), a September 17 trial date has finally been set in the child pornography case of R&B superstar R. Kelly, according to the CookCountyState's Attorney's Office.

As previously reported by everyone in the world, the early stages of the selection process for potential jurors began last month as both prosecutors and defense lawyers presented questionnaires to determine who would determine Kelly's fate.

Assistant State Attorney Shauna Boliker called the pre-screening process "unique in CookCounty," but necessary because of the high-profile nature of the case.

Kelly, who is facing 14 counts of child pornography stemming from a video tape that allegedly features the R&B crooner engaged in sexual acts with a young girl, believes that he will be exonerated of the charges.

"I'm going through my own struggle … and you're either gonna fold or you're going to stand," he told The Associated Press in 2005, "and I believe in standing."
