Usher was recently in the UK to perform on the BBC's Radio 1 Big Weekend and he did so with new music from his new album, Here I Stand. While Usher was in the UK, he sat down to talk to Tim Westwood about his album, life and how things have changed since the release of his Confessions.
Usher discussed how since the last album he has been devoting time to his non-profit foundation, got married and had a child, plus joined the musical Chicago on Broadway. "I started a label... a lot has changed," Usher said, "Over a year and a half of recording allowed me to really tell the story that I felt was necessary for this day and time as well as where I am in my life. What I wanted to talk about was a lot of those personal experiences."
will.i.am, Polow Da Don and Jermaine Dupri will produce on the album as well as guest spots from Young Jeezy, Lil' Wayne and Beyoncé. "The story I'm telling on this album [are] based off the decisions I made; I took a stance that was against the norm," Usher said. "When you find your mate for life, you feel something. Dealing with that and manning up in that is a lot." Here I Stand lands in stores May 30th via Jive Records.

DMX isn't making it any easier on himself. Today X was arraigned on two counts of marijuana possession and one for drug paraphernalia, stemming from a raid of his property, where officials seized 12 malnourished dogs on the rapper’s land. X was scheduled to appear in court at 8:30 but he showed up an hour late, around 9:30, where he later entered a plea of not guilty to the charges.
Although he charged with a misdemeanor count for animal cruelty, he was not arraigned on that charge today. DMX is due back in court on July 2.

As we previously reported, Kanye West was scheduled to perform at a function that would celebrate the 25th anniversary of Casio's G-Shock watch line. Kanye did show and performed such hits as “I Wonder” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.” The night before, Kanye had peformed at Madison Square Garden with his Glow In The Dark Tour.
The New York Daily News reviewed Kanye's tour stop in NYC and didn't have much positive to say. Earlier this month, Entertainment Weekly did the same and Kanye blasted the magazine on his blog.
At the show, Pharrell Williams introduced his new artists Chester French. The group, a couple of Harvard grads, performed a ten-song set at the Cutting Room. They were signed to William’s Star Trak label after Kanye West and Jermaine Dupri expressed interested in signing the pop act.
Twista and his group, Speedknot Mobstaz, are set to hit the road as a part of the Rock The Vote tour. The Chicago veterans will embark on the twenty-plus date bill as they also prep for the release of their latest album, Mobstability II: Nation Biznezz. The album will hit stores May 27 via Twista’s Get Money Gang imprint with Koch Records.-XXL staff
