On his upcoming album Chicken and Beer, due in September, Ludacris finally gets to speak his mind about Bill O'Reilly. The conservative pundit's criticism of the rapper last year cost Ludacris his endorsement deal with Pepsi, which in turn prompted a boycott of the soft drink by the hip-hop community. "You're gonna have to wait and see," Ludacris teases about the lyrical barbs directed towards O'Reilly. "[But] the dude is a complete asshole."
For his fourth CD, and the follow-up to 2001's three-million-plus-selling Word of Mouf, Ludacris has drafted several unknown producers, including Ice Dre and DJ Nasty, to fulfill his party hip-hop vision. "If I keep getting hit songs with new guys it just shows that I'm the one who knows how to make the hit," he says. New tracks include the pro-pot-smoking "Too Much," and "Teamwork," an ode to menage a trois.
In other Ludacris news, he has contributed a pair of new songs to the 2 Fast 2 Furious soundtrack, including "Act a Fool," the soundtrack's first single, and "Pick Up the Phone," a collaboration with R. Kelly and Tyrese. The album is due May 27th.

Although he has plans to “Act A Fool” in his role in the sequel to the Fast and Furious Ludacris is going to be busier than ever with his new plans. Ludacris is throwing his name into the hat of fashion designers with his own clothing line called C.P. Times. Ludacris told Launch media, “You know you always hear C.P. Time, people say ‘colored people time’. In this sense, I mean everyone of color, even white is color you know what I mean? It’s kinda of like a clothing line trying to just end racial discrimination.”
Ludacris hopes his clothing line will make a difference in ending racial discrimination. How much of a difference, who knows? “We are not naïve enough to just think that we can stop it altogether, but I think you know we can make a difference. That‘s what this clothing line is all about. It will be great urban gear and I’m just here to sell it,” he said. You can check Ludacris out on the big screen in Fast and the Furious 2 opening nationwide on June 6th. |

Jason Johnson, a rap artist known as Camoflauge, was fatally shot Monday while walking with his toddler son outside his studio in midtown Savannah, authorities said.
Police were called to the scene outside Pure Pain Records about 4:30 p.m. after reports that shots were fired. They found Johnson suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Johnson, 21, died later at Memorial Health University Medical Center. His son was not hurt.
No arrests have been made. Police did not have any suspects, officials said.
Johnson, who grew up in public housing, hit the record charts with songs about Savannahs poverty and violence. His latest album, Keeping It Real, was released in August.
His songs included Cut Friends ( F*** Firends ) and Laying My Stunt Down.
The rapper suffered minor injuries in a shooting in September, after which he moved to the suburbs in neighboring Bryan County.
Johnson had a police record that included drug violations and a murder charge. He spent three months in the Chatham County Jail in 2000 after being accused of shooting Kenneth Boo Capers, but he was not indicted. |

HOLLYWOOD -- Three carjackers who may have wanted flashy chrome wheels possibly worth $3,000 to $4,000 apiece killed a Long Beach resident Sunday after he got out of his Lexus sedan in Hollywood, police said.
The shooting occurred about 2:50 a.m. in the 1800 block of Cherokee Avenue, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Jack Richter. | Ryan James Groetken, 25, had just parked the silver 1999 Lexus GS300 when he was confronted by three men, who grabbed his keys, then was shot, said LAPD Officer Lucy Diaz. The suspects left in the Lexus, she added.
Groetken, who suffered a "through-and-through wound" in the lower abdomen, reportedly died during surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He may have been shot in the back, police said.
According to police, Groetken had been to a rap concert featuring rapper 50 cent at the House of Blues, then had gone to a bar afterward.
Police, who reportedly have witnesses to some or all of the crime and some physical evidence as well, said the suspects may have been after the vehicle's custom wheels.
"They are very expensive," LAPD Capt. Mike Downing said. "They are somewhere between three and four thousand dollars apiece. They are chrome. They are on some kind of independent bearing, (and) when the car stops, the inner rim continues to spin."
The car's license plate number is 4CVB868. Anyone with more information about the crime is asked to call the LAPD's Hollywood Station at (213) 485- 4302 |

The hip-hop drama “Platinum” has not been renewed for the fall season, representatives for UPN confirmed with AllHipHop.com. After starting with near record-breaking ratings, the show’s Nielson status plummeted.
“Its not coming back next year,” a rep for UPN said, “The ratings were the same as ‘Haunted’ was when we cancelled it last year.”
"Platinum" was a hip-hop family saga based on two brothers, Jackson and Grady Ellis (Jason George and rapper Sticky Fingaz of Onyx), who ran an independent record company.
The Sophia Coppola-produced show was a huge success initially, garnering it extremely high reviews and generated significant controversy for its content. Even mogul Russell Simmons spoke out in support of the realism of the plot.
The show delved primarily into the seedy underbelly of the music industry, something that Naji Ali of Project Islamic H.O.P.E. said was the curse of the show.
“If they were true to making a real hip-hop show, they wouldn’t have focused on the negative,” Ali told AllHipHop.com. “We are vindicated.” When the show debuted Ali and his organization proposed a boycott of the show if the creators didn’t attempt to change the content.
While the boycott never happened, Ali said he followed the Nielson ratings closely and watched the show’s viewership decline steadily. But, he maintains that he isn’t pleased ‘Platinum’ is off the air.
“Hip-Hop loses. We had a chance to have a national voice with ‘Platinum,’” he said. “I am disappointed but we are vindicated.”
While many may not be aware of “Platinum’s” passing, there are some fans of the show that are saddened at the cancellation.
“They just left us hanging with the ending. The should have pushed it like they did in the beginning instead of leaving it out there,” one fan said. “It needs to get put on cable anyway. It was too raw for primetime. I still watched it every week.”
Rapper Eve will pop up next season with her sitcom “Opposite Sex,” but the Ruff Ryder isn’t a replacement for ‘Platinum,’ the rep stated.

Ol' Dirty Bastard, or Dirt McGirt, who was released from a mental hospital on May 2 after serving two years in prison for felony drug possession charges, has released two new songs to radio. Snoop Dogg seems to be as down with the remake as he is with the remix. He's currently shooting a big-screen version of "Starsky & Hutch," and now he's signed up with Method Man for a remake of "Airplane!" called "Soul Plane."
Snoop will play a pilot in MGM's upcoming urban version of the 1980 satirical farce starring Robert Hays ("Dr. T & the Women") and featuring Leslie Nielsen ("The Naked Gun"), with Meth onboard as his best friend Muggsy. A spokesperson for Snoop said the rapper will begin work on the flick in June. Jessy Terrero, who helmed the clip for Snoop's "Tell It Like It Is" as well as 50 Cent's "Wanksta," will direct.
Snoop is playing Huggy Bear in "Starsky & Hutch," which reunites the "Zoolander" duo of Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson as the hip cops with the cool car from the '70s TV show. The project was written and is being directed by Todd Phillips ("Old School").
Method Man has a number of projects lined up with his pal Redman, including one in which they'll play a couple of DEA agents and another that's a fish-out-of-water comedy from "Barbershop" co-writer Don Scott.
The original "Airplane!" spawned a sequel in 1982, but without writer/directors Jim Abrahams and David Zucker's direct involvement. Abrahams, who directed Nielsen's "Police Squad!" TV series, went on to make the similarly over-the-top and exclamation-point-titled comedies "Top Secret!," "Hot Shots!," "Hot Shots! Part Deux" and "Jane Austen's Mafia!" as well as the "Naked Gun" series. |
