Oakland Rapper Kenny Clutch and Two Others Killed As a Result of a Las Vegas Drive by Shooting

Posted By on February 22, 2013

Oakland Native and aspiring rapper, Kenny Clutch, was shot in a drive by shooting on the Las Vegas Strip after an altercation at the Aria Hotel. Clutch, whose real name is Kenneth Cherry Jr., was shot and killed while driving down Las Vegas Blvd. According to a report by CNN, the rapper crashed head on into a taxi cab after being shot and losing control of his Maserati. The taxi cab driver, Michael Bolden, and the yet to be identified passenger were killed in the fiery crash.

To this point, the shooter has not yet been identified or apprehended. Ironically, the shooting took place just one block from where Tupac Shukur was mortally wounded in a drive-by shooting in 1996.

Sources indicate that Clutch got into a verbal altercation with someone driving a white Range Rover in the valet area of the parking lot at the Aria hotel. Shortly after that, someone fired a shot from that white Range Rover, striking and ultimately killing the aspiring rapper.

Clutch’s attorney, Vicki Greco, made the following statement.

“Out of everyone I know in the rapping industry there is no way I would have ever, ever expected to find that he was shot on the Las Vegas strip in such an aggressive manner…He didn’t have a (criminal) record or a history. He was just a good kid trying to make it and be a good father.” According to reports, Kenny Clutch was the father of three.

Doug Gillispie, Clark County Sheriff, has stated that this type of behavior will not be tolerated and that those responsible will be apprehended and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
